安(蔡一智)與健結識後，兩人組成爬山隊，並與隊員合作經營船廠籌募爬山經費，隊員包括經紀倫(蘇志威)和大學生俊(張智霖)。 俊妹儀(唐韋琪)對健鍾情，但健卻暗戀蕾，當健知道蕾與俊相愛後，暗然神傷並埋首工作及練習。豈料船廠遭火焚毀，而健亦因暴露了釋囚身分而與眾人反…
    高文健自幼喪父，誤入歧途，因誤殺青年陳錦明被判入獄，母親亦因刺激過度辭世，健極度沮喪，幸得福利官鄭秋萍鼓勵，痛改前非，潛心苦讀，卒能在會考中取得優異成績，被推薦參加外展青年訓練中心的體能訓練，與教練梁志剛，亦即萍前夫，健立亦帥亦友的感情，並於活動中結識一班爬山愛好者，相約一年後征服聖母峰。
    健出獄後寄居萍家，與萍女梁丹蕾成鬥氣冤家，蕾自澳洲返港渡假，一心想拉攏父母復合。陳錦安因母親王玉清過度呵護，形成懦弱性格，自與健結識後，逐漸健立信心，兩人不單組成爬山隊召集好友練習爬山，並與眾合作經營船廠籌募爬山經費。
    隊員中各有不同目標，經紀卓浩倫欲惜爬山協助推銷商品；大學生張培俊則純為表現自己，爭取榮耀。原來俊父張金滿為過氣球星，因使用茅招為人不齒，俊逐隱瞞與父關系。
    健偶然認識飛女張敏儀，儀為俊之妹並對健鐘情，不過健郤暗戀蕾，而蕾與俊相愛，健暗神傷，埋首工作及練習。豈料船廠遭火焚毀，眾人心血毀於一旦，而健[監躉]身份暴露，與眾人反目成仇。同時健赫然發現自己患上血癌……..
    究竟健能否完成志願征服聖母峰呢？
